Current measurements of the PSoC 6-BLE Pioneer Kit from Cypress | Part 1
November 24, 2017
Today we are unboxing the PSoC 6-BLE Pioneer Kit from Cypress and perform some initial current measurements on the system while the e-ink display is being updated.
This turns out to be more difficult than expected due to the way the development kit is powered. The measurements in the video are the lowest ones we could achieve, there are several ways to increase the idle power consumption (Power through the USB-C port results in an idle power of just under 0.5W, power though the V in pins results in ~0.2W). When powered through the USB-C port the entire programmer/debugger part of the board will also be powered, so a higher consumption is to be expected, but the V in pins should only power the MCU and peripherals.
Also, this development kit features a non-production revision of the PSoC 6 silicon.
